Challenge Corner #2 – Immortality
Welcome back to Challenge Corner!
Did you have fun with last week’s challenge? Quite a few of you have been sharing links! Quadruple bonus points and eternal admiration are due to Hannah, niteowl, Ary and WritingWolf for beating it with all the optional extras, and triple bonus points to Trident for all the extras you could get in a short story! I hope you enjoyed it, because I’ve got another shiny task for you. This week, I’ve had friends pondering out loud questions of life, death and the time in between, so I’m feeling a tad philosophical. Therefore, I give you, the second Challenge:
You were the one to discover the secret to immortality.
Remember, you can write absolutely anything, as long as it revolves around this. Want to write a thirty-page epic ballad? Go for it. Flash fiction more your style? You’re good. You don’t have to write in first person – you could have a character be the person who discovered the secret instead!
If you saw last week’s challenge, you’ll also remember that Challenge Corner tasks come with super bonus options. These are optional add-ons for those of you who want to stretch yourselves a little further. This week, you get:
+ Bonus Points if discovering the secret was a bad thing for some reason.
++ Double Bonus Points if the person doing the discovering didn’t get to be immortal themselves.
+++ Triple Bonus Points if they made their pet cat immortal instead.
Let me know how ambitious you’re going to be in the comments! And when you’ve finished writing, it’d be great to link your work, too – I love seeing what people come up with for prompts. And of course, there’s no deadline – whenever you get around to writing something for this, I’ll still want to see what you did!
