Novels and Nonsense #4 – Show Me Your Novels!

After a two week break in portugal, I’m back to post on Writing Gooder!

Now this Novels and Nonsense post is a little different to my previous ones, partly because I want to try something different, and partly because I don’t have much time today. It’s pretty much what the title says. Instead of an advice based post, this is going to be one where you can share your own novels. Whether it’s a full novel or a single chapter, I’d really like for you to post about it here. Reply to this post with a direct link, or if you simply want to talk about your novel, you can just do that. Perhaps write a little paragraph about it? I’ll let you know what I think of the premise, if you want.

Also, I plan to read and review every novel posted as a reply to this post, and I think it would be really awesome if some of you guys also read/review some of the novels posted.

One of the main reasons I’m doing this is because I haven’t been reviewing a lot recently. The two things that especially gets me reviewing are novels and, well, owing people. Thus by saying that I’m going to review every novel posted here, I’m very likely to do so because the pressure of that promise drives me forward. Whether a single soul will actually read, let alone reply to this post is another story… but hey ho, it’s worth a shot.

So yes, calling all novel writers! If you want some feedback on your novel by me (and hopefully some other awesome people), then please post about it as a reply to this blog post. Like I previously said, reply with a direct link, perhaps just give me a premise, or if you’re a bit more coy then shoot me a PM about it.

Keep writing,

xoxo Skins

Oooh. It’s offers like this that make me wish I’d actually, like, finished a novel, ever >< I hope you get some cool things to read!

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a whole novel, a single chapter would be fine. I just need novely stuff to sink my teeth into, mwahahaha!

Unfortunately, my novel is not posted on YWS. Although, if no one responds and you find yourself still with nothing to read, PM me and maybe I’ll email mine to you, or at least part of it. I would love a review by another writer rather than just a couple of friends who give the basic “Yeah, I liked it” answer- which is encouraging but not helpful.

But, a bit about my novel, because I love it and love to talk about it. 😀

The title is Shadow Whispers, and it’s about a group of people called the Whisperers who are messengers for this mysterious Shadow, whom none of the Whisperers have ever met. And, of course, there is the Steward, who has kept the throne ever since the Shadow vanished years earlier. He realizes that the Whisperers exist and are not loyal to him, so he puts a price on their heads and calls for a war.

That’s the basic idea. I’m currently working on the fourth draft, and it’s slightly exhausting, but really exciting at the same time.

Hey! I’ve been at Uni, so I’m a couple of days behind, but is the offer still open? c:

My novel is called The Charm of Deception. It’s about the daughter of an abusive Lord father; her name is Darrana Elstan. It’s fantasy, with a medieval-ish setting. While she’s to survive her father trying to marry her off to cruel men, she gets kidnapped by an enemy country and sold as a slave for that country’s prince. She adjusts to life as a social inferior, all the while planning a way to escape her harsh Masters.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I must say that your novel sounds pretty interesting, Cailey. I think it’s awesome that you’ve managed to power through to your fourth draft because novel editing is just about the most exhausting thing ever!

And Shady, yes, the offer is still open so I shall check out your novel for you.
