Challenge Corner #6 – Cabbages

Greetings! I hope you’re all doing well – and writing well. But if you’re suffering an inspiration dry spell, fear not! I have another challenge prepared, for whomsoever should require it.

This week’s challenge is a modified version of a post in the NaNoWriMo forum Dares thread in years gone by; unfortunately, as they wipe the forums yearly, I can’t tell you who posted it – but I can heartily reccommend hunting out the Dares thread for whichever year you read this in. Some are sensible, some are silly, some are exactly what you needed for an idea.

So, without further ado:

You have a character who claims to be a master of languages, but can only say “Those are my cabbages” in all the languages they say they know.

I can see a whole lot of potential for drama and/or hilarity here – what do you guys see? You don’t see super bonus options? Don’t be silly, here they are:

+ Bonus Points if they say this in a context where it makes sense.

++ Double Bonus Points if they actually hate cabbages.

+++ Triple Bonus Points if they advance the plot using this skill.

For any new challengers: super bonus options are, as the name implies, totally optional! You can include as many or as few as you like, depending on how much of a challenge you think you need.

So, challengers – bring me some cabbage!

Cadi x

PS: Fans of Avatar will know what I mean when I say here’s a montage of the Cabbage Man

Cadi

Cadi is a Computer Science student from the UK, with hair that keeps changing colour and a mind that keeps changing topic. She writes, doodles, photographs and cooks, and gets far too excited about all of them in turn. Because it's worth getting excited about stuff.

I’m not taking you up on this as I still only have 2.1 days to finish the one I already started. But. You get love for avatar references <3

I would just like to say…I have been busy lately, but I am still loving these challenges and I plan to tackle them during NaPo. 🙂
